History<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\nThe Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) was set up in 1958 with the purpose of replacing the Cambridge school Certification Examination and replacing it with an All India Examination. The ICSE council was registered in 1967 as a Society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860; it was listed in 1973 under the Delhi School Education Act of 1973, as a body that conducts public examinations. According to the new education policy adopted in India, in the year 1966, the ICSE board has been granted the privilege to conduct examinations in India, in the English medium.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Objectives<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\nThe mail objectives of ICSE are:-<\/span><\/p>\n\n- Trust and fair play.<\/li>\n
- Minimum monitoring.<\/li>\n
- Allowing schools to evolve own niche.<\/li>\n
- Catering to the needs of the children.<\/li>\n
- Giving freedom to experiment with new ideas and practices.<\/li>\n
- Diversity and plurality – the basic strength for evolution of ideas.<\/li>\n
- Schools to motivate pupils towards the cultivation of:<\/li>\n
\n- Excellence – The Indian and Global experience.<\/li>\n
- Values – Spiritual and cultural – to be the bed rock of the educational experience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
- Schools to have an ‘Indian Ethos’, strong roots in the national psyche and be sensitive to national aspirations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Affiliations<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\nThere are 2341 schools affiliated with CISCE in India and abroad for ICSE (Class X) and 1125 schools affiliated with CISCE in India and abroad for ISC (Class XII).<\/span><\/p>\nThe CISCE council provides a detailed requirement for any school to get its affiliation. The same are as follows:-<\/span><\/p>\n\n- The School must obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the State Government for affiliation of the school to the Council. Schools may request the concerned authority in the Department of Education to mention in the NOC that the Government has no objection for grant of affiliation to the school from Pre-School to Class X or Pre-School to Class XII, as the case may be.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
\n- The school should be run by a Registered Society\/ Trust\/Company registered under Section 25 (1)(a) of the Companies Act, 1956 and one of the principal purposes of the Society\/ Trust\/Company must be Educational.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
\n- Each school must have a properly constituted Governing Body and Managing Committee.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
\n- The Society\/ Trust\/Company should have financial stability<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
\n- The medium of instruction in the school must be English and the scheme of studies must be in accordance with the scheme laid down by the Council for Secondary and Higher Secondary stages. Special importance must be given to English (including oral and aural English) for which a high standard is required to be maintained.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
\n- The staff must be qualified and trained in accordance with the qualifications prescribed by the Council. They must be paid salaries at rates, including allowances, not lower than those prevailing in State Government Schools.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
\n- There should be a Compulsory Provident Fund Scheme.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
\n- The school infrastructure should be adequate for accommodating the numbers and gender of pupils attending the school.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
\n- The playing fields and\/or other facilities for extra-curricular and co-curricular activities must be adequate. Special attention must be paid to physical education, art and music, though it may not be the intention to offer such subjects for the examination.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
\n- The equipment should be adequate to enable all subjects to be taught efficiently and must include apparatus for practical work. Where Science, Home Science or Technical subjects are offered for the examination, the premises and the apparatus and equipment must be approved by the Council. The school should have a well-equippedlibrary for its pupils and staff.<\/li>\n
- The number of working days and hours should conform to those prescribed by the Council from time to time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
\n- The Certificate of Land is a mandatory document to be submitted electronically in a prescribed format for Provisional Affiliation. The format of the Certificate of Land can be downloaded from the link below and is required to be completed and signed by the district Magistrate\/Tehsildar\/Sub Registrar or any other registering authority<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
